Social Economic Development
Fair Tropical Timber BV buys timber from small local communities in developing countries. This leads indirectly to social developments as well:
- Local village people are involved in the decision-making relating to the allocation of the development project revenues. The allocation of the revenues is agreed upon prior to concluding the contract with Fair Tropical Timber BV, so that it is clear, prior to the cutting of the trees, where revenues go.
- The timber is produced with the help of inhabitants of the forests. They prepare the sawing activities and arrange the transport of the wood. The women of the villages sell food to the workers.
